Description
Lower Penmellyn is a house built around the mid-19th century, with few later alterations. It is constructed of squared granite rubble and features a hipped slate roof with ridge tiles and deep eaves, along with a stack at the rear left. The house has a two-room plan, with a central entrance and rooms of equal size on either side. There is a 20th-century rear wing.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window front. All windows are 19th-century, featuring 2-light, 3-pane casements with stone voussoirs at the ground floor. The central doorway is pointed arched, with recessed double doors that have pointed arched panels. There is also a 19th-century gabled and glazed conservatory porch.
On the right side, there is a 19th-century 4-pane sash window at the ground floor with a brick cambered arch, and a 16-pane sash window with Gothic glazing and a brick cambered arch on the first floor. The left side is built over a cellar and has a 12-pane sash window at the ground floor and a 4-pane sash at the first floor, both featuring flat brick arches. The 20th-century two-storey wing is located at the rear right. The interior has not been inspected.
