Description

Horrel Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around the 1860s. It is constructed of stone rubble with brick dressings and features rag slates on the front and left-hand side, along with a rag slate roof that has hipped ends. The building has a brick end stack on the left and a brick axial stack on the right.

The layout consists of a double depth plan with a central entrance that leads to two principal rooms. The room on the left is heated by an end stack, while the room on the right is heated by an axial stack. The staircase is located on the left side of the passage, with a dairy at the rear left and a large kitchen at the rear of the passage on the right, which is heated by an axial stack. The kitchen's fireplace is back-to-back with that in the principal room on the front right.

The exterior is two storeys high and features a symmetrical three-window front, showcasing a complete set of hornless 19th-century 12-pane sashes. There is a central 20th-century glazed door in a glazed 20th-century porch built on a brick base, flanked by two sashes on the ground floor and three on the first floor. The rear elevation also has a symmetrical three-window front with complete 19th-century sashes and brick dressings, along with a central 19th-century porch.

Inside, there is a 19th-century open string staircase with a turned newel, and the chimney-pieces have been replaced in the 20th century.
