SW 73 SE MABE TREMOUGH

3/93 Gate-piers, walls and railings at - approximately 490 metres north of Tremough GV II

Gate-piers, flanking walls, terminal piers and railings. Circa late C19. Initials RS on railings, probably for R. Sampson. Dressed granite piers and walls, cast-iron panels to wooden railings. Wide gateway with square-on-plan piers flanked by convex quadrant-on-plan walls with square on plan terminal piers. Piers resemble square columns with moulded bases and entablature with blocking courses as caps. The shafts have rock faced panels. Low granite ashlar walls have granite copings. Over the walls are chamfered wooden railings with ornate cast-iron panels with fleurs-de-lis detail.
