Description
The gate piers, walls, and railings located approximately 490 metres north of Tremough date from the late 19th century. The railings feature the initials RS, likely representing R. Sampson. The structure includes dressed granite piers and walls, with cast-iron panels set into wooden railings. The wide gateway is marked by square piers that are flanked by convex walls, which also have square terminal piers. The piers are designed to resemble square columns, complete with moulded bases and entablatures topped with blocking courses. The shafts of the piers display rock-faced panels. The low granite ashlar walls are capped with granite copings, and above these walls are chamfered wooden railings that incorporate ornate cast-iron panels featuring fleurs-de-lis details.
