Description
The gate-piers and flanking railings at the south entrance to Penheale date from the mid to late 19th century. They consist of a pair of stone rubble gate-piers that are rectangular in shape, with parts of the side panels set forward to create an overall polygonal form. The gate-piers are topped with flat granite caps. There is a 19th-century five-bar timber gate featuring diagonal bracing. The very low stone rubble flanking walls have granite coping and are accompanied by simple cast iron railings on the right-hand side. Additionally, there are stone rubble terminal piers, also rectangular in shape, which have flat granite caps.
