Description
A farmhouse with two attached farmbuildings, likely dating from the late 17th century with extensions in the late 18th century. The structure is built from granite rubble with rag slate roofs to the outbuildings and a scantle slate roof on the front slope of the farmhouse, featuring some early crested ridge tiles. Granite ashlar stacks are topped with moulded granite caps.
The farmhouse appears to have been originally constructed with a two-room and cross or through-passage plan, with an end-stack heating system and a cloam oven projection to the right-hand end stack. The house is built down a slope, with the lower end on the right side. In the late 18th century, a shippon with a loft above was built into the bank on the higher left side, and another shippon with a loft above was constructed on the lower right side. A 20th-century extension was later added to the rear of the house.
The front facade is almost symmetrical, featuring a 20th-century glazed porch near the centre. This is flanked by a 20th-century two-light window on the left and a three-light casement on the right, both with granite strings above the window openings and dressed stone voussoirs. Three 20th-century two-light casements are present on the first floor. The barn to the left has wide plank doors to an opening. The two-storey barn to the right has a door to the left, a small opening to the right, and two small openings on the first floor.
Fireplaces remain intact inside but have been covered.
