Description

Alpha Cottage is a late 18th-century cottage situated at the end of a row. It is constructed of rubble and cob walls, with a steep, grouted scantle slate roof. The right-hand end has a half-hipped form, while a brick chimney, shared with the adjacent Tattle-Tale Cottage, rises above the left-hand party wall. A dry Delabole slate roof covers the rear wing. The cottage has an L-shaped plan, likely containing a kitchen/living room at the front with an entrance and staircase on the left side, and a small kitchen wing projecting at right angles behind the left-hand side. The west front features one window and a ground-floor doorway. The doorway has a 4-panel door, with later glazing added to the top panels, and a 12-pane horizontal-sliding sash window. The interior was not inspected.
