Description
Avondale Oyster Cottage is a terrace of four cottages built around the mid to late 19th century. The cottages are constructed from killas rubble with granite dressings. Nos. 3 and 4 have a grouted scantle slate roof, while Nos. 1 and 2 are covered with asbestos slate. There are brick chimneys at the gable ends and over the central party wall, along with cast-iron ogee-section gutters. The layout features a double depth plan with two identical pairs of cottages, each pair having one room at the front and shared entrances in the middle. The exterior is two storeys high, with each pair displaying symmetrical fronts that include two windows and two doorways located together at the center. The doors are panelled with overlights, except for No. 4, which has a 20th-century door. The windows may be original 12-pane horned sashes. The interior has not been inspected.
