Description
The building is a piggery and stable located approximately 15 metres north of Banns Farmhouse. It is likely from the 18th century and early 19th century. The structure features granite rubble walls with granite dressings, including many large vertically set roughly-hewn granite monoliths. The roofs are made of scantle slate, except for the rear slope of the stable, which has been replaced with asbestos slate. The original building has granite coped gable ends and a stump of a brick chimney at the left-hand end.
The layout consists of three adjoining rectangular buildings. The original building, probably a stable, was later converted into a swill kitchen and pigsty. A slightly later piggery is set back in the middle, and a later stable is built forward on the right. The exterior is single-storey. The original building on the left has a doorway on its right and another at the left-hand end. The piggery has a doorway on the left and a pair of doorways in the middle, while the stable has a doorway towards the left and a small window at the far left. The doors are old ledged doors. Inside, there are old stone partitions and 19th-century roof structures.
