Description
This guide post, dating from the early 20th century, was manufactured by Oatley and Martyn Ltd. in Wadebridge. It is made of cast iron and features a round shaft with three adjustable pointers above a moulded cornice. The post is topped with a moulded finial that has a spike head. Each square-ended pointer has embossed inscriptions indicating directions and distances: the left-hand pointer points to Penhalvean (2 miles) and Redruth (5 miles), the middle pointer points to Perranwell (3½ miles), Penryn (4¼ miles), and Truro (8½ miles), while the right-hand pointer indicates Gwenapp (2 miles) and Lanner (3 miles).
