Description
The barn located approximately 50 meters northwest of Landue Barton dates from the early 19th century, with a mid-19th century addition. It is constructed of roughly coursed slate-stone with granite dressings and alternating angle quoins for the original barn, while the addition features red brick dressings. Both sections have hipped slate roofs. This is a bank barn with a lower range added to the right in the mid-19th century, situated on the north side of the farmyard. The barn has two levels and features a symmetrical arrangement of windows and doors. There are wide central plank double doors with a flat lintel beneath a lean-to hood, and an opposing entrance at the rear. Ventilation slits are located on either side, along with small outer windows—one on the right with a slightly cambered head and the other on the left being a two-light wooden mullion. The ground floor has a narrow doorway at the center, flanked by wide inner doorways with plank double doors and narrow outer doorways, all featuring voussoirs to slightly cambered heads except for the flat lintel on the far left. The right addition has two segmental-headed windows and external lateral steps at the end. Inside, the bank barn has a collar truss roof supported by eight bays, with two outer trusses at each end featuring tie beams, and a wooden threshing floor. This barn is part of a well-preserved farmyard group that was formerly associated with Landue Barton.
