Description
The Rule monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 35 metres southeast of the south chapel of the Church of St. Mary and St. Julian. It dates from the mid-19th century and is made of limestone. The tomb features a raised top with a moulded edge and rosettes along the frieze beneath the edge. Each corner has an engaged Corinthian column, and there are carved ivy panels at the corners. The north and south sides have inscription panels with cusped borders, while there are similar narrow panels on the east and west sides. The monument commemorates Richard Rule, who died in 1871, along with other family members.
