Large Barn At Approximately 90 Metres West-South-West Of Trewoofe Farmhouse

This large barn, located approximately 90 metres west-south-west of Trewoofe Farmhouse, is a Grade II listed building. It is a bank barn, converted into living accommodation, dating from the early 19th century and remodelled from or built on the site of an older barn. The structure is made of granite rubble with granite dressings and features scantle slate hipped roofs.

The barn has an overall U-shaped plan, with a large rectangular bank barn that is built into the bank at the rear. It has single-storey wings projecting in front on either side. The left-hand wing connects to the left end of the barn, while the right-hand wing is situated in front of the right side and extends further out. A central 20th-century porch, which is a rebuilt replica of the porch from St Buryan Methodist Chapel, uses the original materials.

The exterior consists of a two-storey, four-window east-facing barn front, flanked by the front ends of the single-storey wings. The central porch provides access to the barn, which retains its original openings, although some 20th-century openings have been added. The barn features a doorway within the porch, a doorway (now a window) at the far left, another doorway (now a window) to the left of the porch, and windows to the right of the porch, along with a former loading doorway (now a window) above the porch. The front ends of the wings are blind. At the rear, there are two original doorways that were once accessed by short flights of granite steps, which have now been repurposed as copings for a 20th-century wall in front of the barn.

Historical documents from 1760 mention a barn at Trewoofe, and this barn, stylistically early 19th century, along with other buildings at Trewoofe, was marked on the 1884 tithe map.
