Description

Higher Clubworthy Farmhouse and the adjoining barn, likely from the 17th century, are constructed from rendered and painted stone rubble and cob, topped with a rag slate roof featuring gable ends. The farmhouse has brick shafts for its end stacks and a projecting stone rubble end stack with a brick shaft for the outshut on the rear right. The barn, located on the left, is made of stone rubble and cob with a corrugated iron roof and gable ends.

The farmhouse has a two-room layout with a cross or through passage, situated on sloping ground. Originally, the larger hall-kitchen was on the right and the smaller parlour on the left, both heated by end stacks. In the 18th century, an outshot was added to the rear, which includes a dairy on the left and a back kitchen on the right, heated by a projecting end stack that features a cloam oven. The rectangular-plan barn, attached to the higher left side of the farmhouse, is likely slightly younger than the house, although the rendered walls conceal the junction.

The exterior of the farmhouse is two storeys high with a regular three-window front, and the barn is attached on the higher left side. The house features a part-glazed door from the late 19th or early 20th century, flanked by two 19th-century two-light casements, with three more similar casements on the first floor. There is an outshut extension at the rear of the house and a wide entrance to the first floor of the barn at the rear right. The interior is not accessible.
