Description

No.15 New Street is a late 18th-century town house. It is constructed of granite rubble walls with granite dressings, featuring flat arches to the ground floor. The roof is of asbestos slate, with a brick end stack on the left and a rendered stack on the right, and a cast-iron ogee gutter. The house follows a shallow double-depth plan and presents a symmetrical three-window facade. The upper windows are late 19th-century six-pane horned sash windows. The central doorway has a fluted, pedimented doorcase supported by consoles, panelled reveals, and a six-panel door. The interior was only partially inspected, but panelled window shutters survive to the ground floor. It is one of a well-preserved row of 18th-century houses built along New Street, stepped down the hillside.
