Description
The Tabernacle, now known as the New Life Christian Centre, is a Congregational chapel built in 1805 on the site of a former house. It features a granite ashlar front and a hipped grouted scantle slate roof, with a rectangular aisle-less plan in a classical style. The building has a two-storey, three-bay front with three windows. There are round arches above the mid-floor sashes, which have glazing bars, and a central first-floor fixed light, all with margin panes. The entrance includes an elliptically-arched doorway with an original pair of three-panel doors, of which the top four panels have been later glazed. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest. The forecourt includes a low elvan-coped elvan ashlar wall with wrought iron railings, contributing to the character of the 18th-century street.
