Description
The Cottage is a probable fisherman's house built over stores in the early 19th century. It features painted rubble walls and an asbestos slate roof that is hipped on the left. The building has a rectangular plan and is located at the end of a row, standing three storeys tall with an irregular two-window range on the second floor. The original windows include a 16-pane, two-light casement and a small two-pane window to the right. A flight of rubble steps with slate treads leads up to the first floor, where there is a doorway on the right with a 20th-century door.
The left-hand end of the building has a one-window range with wide openings that may have been former loading doorways. These openings contain pairs of late 19th-century, four-pane horned sashes, except for a pair of older or original shutters on the ground floor. The rear of the building has a one-window range with original 16-pane sashes on the upper floors and a 16-pane, two-light casement on the ground floor, along with a central doorway and another doorway on the right, both featuring old ledged doors.
Inside, there is a 19th-century straight-flight staircase and ledged doors.
