Description

Tiree 'n' Tyrina are two 18th-century town houses located on Lower Chapel Street in East Looe. The houses are constructed of painted rubble with a steep roof, timber lintels concealed behind a rendered finish, and a corbelled chimney breast on the gable end return to the right. They have a double-depth plan and originally featured an irregular three-window front. The windows are mostly early 19th-century 16-pane hornless sashes. There’s also a 16-pane 2-light casement to the second floor left and centre, and a 20th-century casement that breaks the eaves as a dormer on the right. The central doorway to No.10 (the left house) has a 19th-century 4-panel door with glazed top panels. A later mid- to late-19th-century 4-panel door is located to the left of the other house. A rear lean-to contains an 18th-century rear window with thick glazing bars (some missing), and another window of a slightly later date, also with missing glazing bars. The interior was not inspected.
