Description
This is a ledgerstone commemorating Thomas Martyn, who died in 1719, and his wife Joan, who died in 1748. The ledgerstone is made of large rectangular slate and has been reset as a headstone. The inscription features a deeply engraved round-topped panel with curved shoulders, along with a central rectangular panel. The lettering is in upper and lower case with serifs. The memorial is adorned with leaf scroll friezes and relief carvings of angels' heads at the corners. The stone is broken into two parts and is located close to the north wall of the churchyard, 3 metres east of the west gates.
