Description

Wearde Farmhouse is a building of mixed origins, with parts dating from the mid-18th century and early-mid 19th century additions. It has an irregular half-H plan. The farmhouse is rendered and has segmental-headed windows, later replaced with casements. Three windows are visible on the west side, with a central porch. A projecting hipped bay, which houses the staircase, is set into the left-hand angle. A taller, two-storey, three-window wing forms an extension to the north-west, built in the mid-19th century. Inside, some 18th-century features remain, including a blocked newel staircase, part of another staircase, and cornices, including a modillion cornice on the first-floor landing. The roof is slate-covered. Originally, the farmhouse served as a rear extension to Wearde House.
