Description
Purn House Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid to late 18th century, with alterations and an extension added in the mid 19th century. The exterior features lined out render and a slated roof, with a snecked ashlar wing. The building is two storeys high and has three windows, plus one in the link to the later wing. The main block has 16 light glazing bars, while the link features a 6-light window. The central door has a cambered head and ornate fielded panels, including a lower ogee section, with a shell hood above. The later wing, which protrudes at the north, is also two storeys high and has three windows, consisting of 6-light glazing bar sashes and one later casement. Inside, the left-hand (south) room has panelling, a dentilled cornice, and two shell hood display niches, one of which has been restored. There is a central panelled open well staircase with an open string, balusters, and a swept handrail.
