Description
Macready House, located in the western block of The Grange, is a late 18th-century building that has undergone Edwardian alterations. The exterior is rendered with ashlar dressings and features a double mansard slate roof. The garden elevation has 2½ storeys with three windows; the first floor has glazing bar sash windows, while the ground floor has later French windows. There is a door located under a pediment, and above the cornice, three round-headed dormers with raised verges can be seen. A bell-cote is positioned between the stacks on the west gable. To the west, there is an adjoining wing that consists of one storey and a basement, featuring a tripartite window and an integral former coach house below. The entrance elevation on the north side also has 2½ storeys and a basement, resembling the garden elevation but with altered window arrangements and a decorative Edwardian porch. Inside, the hall showcases enriched columns and cornices in an Edwardian neo-Classical style, along with some original fireplaces and plasterwork in the rooms facing the garden.
