Description
Sandcroft Cottages, located on Uphill Road South, date from the mid-19th century and later. Originally built from rubble, some sections have been rendered. The cottages have pantile roofs and form three sides of a square. They are 1½ storeys tall and feature gabled dormer windows with fitted bargeboards throughout.
In the South Range, which includes Nos 36, 38, and 40, there are two 2-light square-headed casements with elaborate glazing, and each house has two gables. The East Range, comprising Nos 32, 34, and part of 24, has two-light casements with square panes set under segmental brick arches; No 32 features a window and door beneath one large arch. The North Range includes Nos 24 and 26, which have similar windows to the East Range, although No 26 has lost its glazing bars.
