Description
Church Stile is a house located on Market Street in Launceston, dating from the late 18th century. It features a stucco and some render exterior on a rubble base, adorned with keystones that depict Greek female faces and a string course between the upper floors. The roof is a dry slate hipped design, complemented by two mid to late 19th century gabled dormers and a cornice with modillions. The building has an L-shaped plan and stands three storeys tall with a symmetrical five-window front. The first floor retains original hornless sash windows with thick glazing bars, while the other floors have later sash windows with thinner glazing bars. The central doorway is pedimented and features a moulded architrave and a pulvinated frieze, leading to a four-panel top-glazed door. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
