Description
Alexandra Lodge is a house located on Old Road in Tiverton, dating from the late 18th century. The building features stucco over mass walling, likely made of rubble, and has a hipped slate roof behind a parapet with rendered stacks. It has a double-depth plan with a central stair hall.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window front, with canted bay windows on either side of the entrance. There is a moulded cornice beneath the parapet. The bay windows contain 4/4:6/6:4/4 sash windows, while above the 20th-century glazed and pedimented porch, there is a 6/6-pane sash window. The porch retains the original panelled front door set in panelled reveals. The left-hand side has a two-window front with 6/6-pane sashes and a canted bay window. The right-hand return features similar sashes, including 20th-century ones set in hipped half-dormers with slate cheeks, and a canted oriel with sashes flanking a small-paned two-light casement. There is a mid-20th-century extension at the rear.
The interior has not been inspected but is noted to have retained original joinery, including panelled doors and stick-balusters with a ramped balustrade to the newel.
