Description

Withy Cottage is a small house built in the early 19th century, originally constructed to serve the Great Western Canal. It comprises two rooms, with a later addition of one bay to the left and a rear extension under its own roof. The house is built of stone rubble with dry slate roofs and brick end stacks. It exhibits Gothick detailing.

The original, symmetrical front has three windows on each floor. The first-floor openings and the doorway have arched heads with Y tracery. The first floor retains old casements with glazing bars, while the ground floor has 20th-century transomed casements. A pair of glazed doors provide entry. A simple, open verandah with a glazed roof runs across the front of the ground floor, incorporating stick balustrades to the end bays.

The interior has no original features of particular note.
