Description
Melrose is a house built around 1750, with some alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed from rubble and has a rendered front that is lined out, topped with a slate roof featuring gable end stacks. The house has a central entrance, with rooms on both the right and left sides, and a rear service wing to the left.
The building stands three storeys tall and has five windows, all of which are 8-pane sashes. It features a central wooden porch with outer double doors and an inner panelled door, as well as a two-tier cornice adorned with dentils and modillions. Although the interior is not accessible, it is noted that this house is unusually large for Kingsand and is said to retain fine internal features.
