Numbers 82, 84 And 86 And Attached Front Area Railings, Wall And Gates

Numbers 82, 84, and 86 are a terrace of three houses built around 1792, possibly by William Paty. They are constructed of brick, with some stucco, limestone dressings, party wall stacks, and a pantile hipped mansard roof. The houses are arranged with a double-depth plan and are in a mid-Georgian style. Each house has three storeys, a basement, and an attic, with a three-window range. They appear as a paired house and a half, featuring pilasters to a frieze, cornice, and parapet. The outer doorways have pilasters and imposts, console brackets to the keyed semicircular arches, fanlights, and six-panel doors. The windows are 6/6-pane sashes with cambered heads featuring three stepped voussoirs; the upper floor windows are smaller. Rear elevations include canted bays and semicircular-arched stair windows. The interior has not been inspected, but is reported to be similar to number 52 Kingsdown Parade.

The front area features wrought-iron railings and gates with urn finials, curving up Pennant steps to the entrances. An attached wall and pier to the left of number 86 has a wrought-iron finial.

The terrace is part of a unified development with numbers 56-78 Kingsdown Parade, although this connection is interrupted by number 80, which has a different facade and is listed separately. The terrace was originally planned with numbers 48-52 Kingsdown Parade by James Weekes and Charles Lockier, following a design similar to that of William Paty. Plots were sold to separate builders, and interior details completed by the clients. Number 86 was separately listed on July 20, 1990.
