Description
A terrace of 14 houses built around 1790, likely designed by William Paty. The houses are rendered with limestone dressings, party wall stacks, and a pantile mansard roof. They follow a double-depth plan and are in a late Georgian style. Each house has three storeys, an attic, and a basement, with a three-window range to the front, although numbers 1 to 5 have two windows each. The terrace features a plat band, cornice, and parapet. The front doors have impost blocks, triglyphs, and pediments over semicircular arches, with fanlights above six-panel doors. The windows are mostly 6/6-pane sashes, and there are various dormers. A tented wrought-iron balcony is present at number 2, supported by cast-iron brackets. The interior of the houses has not been inspected. Attached to the front of the terrace is a raised pavement above cellars, with wrought-iron area railings featuring urn finials. This pavement was designed as part of a square layout with numbers 15 to 24 and 25 to 35 Richmond Terrace. Number 9 was rebuilt after bomb damage and is listed only for its façade.
