Description

Number 80 is an attached house located on Kingsdown Parade, built around 1792, possibly by William Paty. The building is constructed of brick with limestone dressings, featuring party wall stacks and a pantile hipped mansard roof. It has a double-depth plan and is designed in a mid-Georgian style. The house has three storeys, a basement, and an attic, with a three-window range. Architectural details include pilasters leading to a frieze, cornice, and parapet with coped party walls. The central doorway is adorned with slender fluted columns supporting a semicircular arch, a decorative fanlight, and a six-panel door. The windows have cambered heads with seven stepped voussoirs and 8/8-pane sashes.

The interior was completely remodelled around 1980, featuring an entrance hall and a 20th-century open-well staircase. The property also includes wrought-iron front area railings and gates with urn finials. Number 80 interrupts the otherwise complete terrace of Nos. 56-86 Kingsdown Parade and was likely built for developer Edward Ash for his own use.
