Description
This is a pair of attached houses located on the south east side of Somerset Street in Kingsdown, Bristol, dating from the late 18th century. The houses are rendered with limestone dressings, and have ridge stacks and a pantile double-pile mansard roof. They are built on a double-depth plan.
The houses are of a late Georgian style, each being two storeys high with a basement and attic. They have a two-window range. The facades feature moulded parapet coping, coped end gables, and a party wall. The left-hand doors have brackets supporting pediments, and semicircular doorways containing 19th-century two-panel doors. Number 22A has a wide, full-height ashlar canted bay and a small dormer; Number 22 has a tripartite ground-floor window and two 20th-century roof lights. All windows have 6/6-pane sashes, with grilles to the basement windows.
The interior of the houses has not been inspected. Number 22 has wrought-iron fleur-de-lys front area railings.
