Description
This is a pair of attached houses dating from the late 18th century, located on Somerset Street in Kingsdown, Bristol. They are built of brick, with brick ridge stacks and a pantile mansard roof. The houses have a double-depth plan and are constructed in a late Georgian style.
The houses are two storeys and an attic, with a six-window front. They present a symmetrical facade, with three-storey bays projecting at each end, a moulded parapet coping, and coped gables. Each house has a doorway located symmetrically between the windows in the middle section, featuring consoles supporting an open pediment and a six-panel door. Segmental relieving arches are above 20th-century casements to either side of the doorways. The bays contain six-pane sashes flanked by four-pane sashes on the ground floor, while the second floor has casements. A single dormer window is placed above the doorways.
The interior was noted to contain a hall with a front dogleg staircase, featuring ramped rails and stick balusters.
Attached to the front are spear-headed area railings, gates, and piers constructed from Pennant stone.
