Description

Numbers 12 and 13 are a pair of attached houses located on Somerset Street in Kingsdown, Bristol, dating from the late 18th century. They are rendered with limestone dressings and have a pantile roof, featuring a double-depth plan in the late Georgian style. Each house has three storeys, a basement, and an attic, with a two-window range. The ground floor is rusticated and includes pilasters leading to a cornice, a parapet on No. 13, and a raised attic storey on No. 12. The right-hand doorways are adorned with consoles supporting a pediment, moulded keyed semicircular arches, fanlights, and six-panel doors. The basement areas are highlighted by canted bays, with one storey for No. 12 and two storeys for No. 13, featuring 8/8-pane sashes flanked by 6/6-pane sashes, while the upper windows have 8/8-pane sashes. The interior has not been inspected but is noted to have dogleg stairs with stick balusters at the front of the house. The property is complemented by good spear-headed wrought-iron railings and gates with urn finials in the front area.
