Description
Ashley Cottage is a house that has been converted into offices. Originally built in the 17th century, it was remodeled in the mid-20th century. The exterior features a rendered finish with limestone dressings and a slate roof. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three stories tall, with a two-story gable on the right side and a four-window range. There are two gables, with the right-hand one projecting. A heavy Tuscan portico is located at the middle of the left-hand gable, which has a 20th-century door and 20th-century windows. Inside, the space has been largely remodeled in the mid-20th century, featuring a central hall with an open dogleg stair that has stick balusters, brackets, and a moulded string. Some original roof timbers are reported to still be present in the roof.
