Description

York House is a late Georgian style house dating from 1823, located on York Road in Montpelier, Bristol. Constructed with render over brick, the house has brick stacks and a hidden roof. It follows a double-depth plan. The symmetrical front elevation features a three-window range and a semicircular-arched doorway with key and impost blocks. The doorway is surmounted by a plain, five-light fanlight and a reeded transom. Original eight-over-eight sash windows are present, and a semicircular-arched stair window is positioned above the doorway, accompanied by a small wrought-iron balcony and a panelled plaque inscribed "YORK HOUSE 1823". The interior, which has not been inspected, is reported to contain a central hall and a curved dogleg staircase. Spear-headed front area railings are a notable subsidiary feature.
