Description

A pair of attached houses dating to approximately 1830, located on York Road in Bristol's Montpelier district. The houses are built of brick with limestone dressings, brick stacks, and a pantile mansard roof. They have a double-depth plan and are two storeys high with a basement, each featuring a single window on the front elevation. Each house has a semicircular-arched doorway sheltered by a flat canopy supported on brackets, and a semicircular-arched stair light above the entrance. The rear elevation displays open pedimented doorcases with batwing fanlights, and cambered arches with seven stepped voussoirs over plate-glass sash windows. The interior has not been inspected. Subsidiary features include spear-headed railings with urn-shaped newels bordering the open basement area. The houses are included on the list for their group value.
