Description
The National Westminster Bank, located at 57, 57a, and 57b High Street, is an early 19th-century building with a stuccoed facade, wide eaves, and a slate roof. It stands three storeys tall and features a string course at the second-floor height and a plinth. The front has four unbarred sash windows, each with keystones, while the ground floor has five unbarred sash windows and a side door framed by a moulded architrave. Rusticated pilasters separate the ground floor windows, topped by a cornice. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 55, 55a, 55b, 59, 61, 63, 63a, 65, 65a, and 67, forming a cohesive architectural ensemble with Nos 52 to 72 (even) and No 76 opposite, with Nos 67 and 52 to 68 (even) opposite being of local interest.
