Description

No. 43 on High Street is an early 18th-century building constructed of red brick with a stucco facade. It features an eaves cornice and a steeply pitched, old tiled roof with a coped gable end on the southeast side. The building has two storeys and two windows, which are sashes with boxed frames and late 19th-century glazing. The shop front has been modernized.

This building is part of a group that includes Nos. 25 to 29 (odd), No. 31, and Nos. 43 and 45, along with the walls at the rear of No. 29 and those in Druitt Gardens. It forms a cohesive group with the Town Hall and Nos. 38, 38A, 42 to 46 (even), and the Ship Hotel across the street. Notably, No. 25, No. 31, No. 45, Nos. 38, 38A, and No. 46 are recognized as buildings of local interest.
