Description

This is an early to mid-19th century building on High Street, part of a wider group of properties of local interest. The building, comprising numbers 55, 55A and 55B, has a stucco facade finished with a cornice and wide eaves supported by brackets. The roof is now pantiled. A moulded string course runs along the building, connecting the sills of the first-floor windows. The building is two storeys high with three windows on its main facade. A further window is recessed on the south-eastern side, located above a carriage arch that leads to the rear. This arch is decorated with keystones and impost bands. The shop front, though altered, retains pilasters, consoles at the ends, and a vertical arrangement of cast iron glazing bars featuring decorated spandrels. A side door provides access to the shop.
