Description
6 and 8 Bridge Street is an early 19th-century building with a painted white facade and a slate roof. It has two storeys and features three dormers, which are topped with segmental and triangular pediments. The building includes five windows with late 19th-century glazing, and pilasters flank the central window. On the ground floor, there are two 19th-century shop fronts; the eastern shop has a window with four arched lights and panelled doors, while the western shop features a large sash window and panelled doors. Between the shops, there is a central awl window with two arched lights, and a cornice runs above the ground floor.
The building is part of a group that includes Nos 2 to 24 (even) and Nos 1 to 7 (odd) on Bridge Street, as well as Nos 1 to 3 (consecutive) Willow Place and the Town Bridge that connects Castle Street and Bridge Street. Nos 1 to 3 Willow Place and No 22 Bridge Street are noted for their local interest.
