Description

Nos. 244, 246 and an animal shed form a group of buildings, originally houses, now a house and a disused shop. No. 246 dates to the late 17th century, with alterations in the late 18th century. No. 244 was extended in the mid-19th century. No. 246 has a gabled end facing the road. The construction is of random and coursed rubble with freestone dressings, covered by a slate roof with coped raised verges. It has two storeys and an attic, featuring two windows with 2-light casements having ovolo moulded stone mullions under drip moulds; there are also glazing bar sash windows and a 20th-century shopfront in the gable end. The west wing, No. 244, was built in the mid-19th century, and is constructed from coursed rubble with a double Roman tiled roof. It has two storeys and one 4-pane sash window. A panelled door is located to the right. An animal shed sits in the re-entrant angle between the two wings; it has a louvred door and gable.
