Description
Welton Baptist Chapel, dated 1839, is located on the south side of West Road in Welton. The building features a gable end facing the road and is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with chamfered quoins and gable verge stones. It has slate roofs with crested ridges and coped gables, along with a chamfered plinth and a band across the gable. The gable includes a central oculus in a moulded surround and a central pointed doorway with a label above it. Flanking the doorway are windows with labels, each containing two lights with foiled heads and a quatrefoil above. A shaped tablet inscribed "A.D Baptist Chapel 1839" is also present. The chapel has a three-bay vessel with 'Y' tracery in the pointed windows. At the rear, there is a four-bay extension; the first two bays have tall round-headed windows and a central round-headed door, while the end two bays accommodate two-storey domestic quarters with a square-headed door.
