Description

  1. 5120 WEST ROAD (south side) Welton Welton Baptist Chapel ST 6654 4/96 II 2. Dated 1839. Gable end to road. Coursed limestone rubble with chamfered quoins and gable verge stones. Slate roofs with crested ridges and coped gables. Chamfered plinth and band across gable. Central oculus in moulded surround in gable. Central pointed doorway with label. Flanking windows with labels, 2 lights with foiled heads and quatrefoil above. Shaped tablet inscribed "A.D Baptist Chapel 1839". Three bay vessel with 'Y' tracery to pointed windows. Four bay extension to rear - 1st 2 bays with tall round headed windows and central round headed door, the end 2 for 2 storey domestic quarters with square headed door.
