Description

The buildings at 26 and 27 High Street comprise a pair constructed in the early 18th century (No. 27) and the mid-19th century (No. 26). They are built of limestone and sandstone, with a shared pantile roof.

The pair are two storeys high. No. 27 is three windows wide. It has a pair of two-light, square mullion windows with edge-rolled detailing at ground floor, and 19th-century two-light casements at the first floor, which retain their moulded outer reveals. A central doorway features a chamfered reveal and cornice. No. 26 is constructed from plain limestone rubble, with two plain sash windows on the first floor. The ground floor has a projecting, flat-roofed extension with a 20th-century shopfront. There are three chimneys: one at each gable end, and one to the left side of No. 27.
