Description
12 and 13 High Street are a pair of shops with living accommodation above, dating from the late 18th century and raised by one storey in 1870. They are built from coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and have a slate roof. There are three chimneys: one is brick and two are rendered.
The buildings are two storeys plus an attic. No 12 has two bays, while No 13 has three bays. The first floor features glazing bar sash windows with beaded surrounds. There are three half dormers in the part-attic storey, each with elaborate bracketed bargeboards and plate glass segmental-headed sash windows. On the ground floor, both shops have late 19th-century two-light shop windows. The ground floor window of No 12 has panelled sides, and No 13 has a similar window with fascia brackets and a blind box, along with a three-light stone mullion window with plate glass sashes to the right of the modern door. Above the door to No 13, there is an ashlar block that is now obscured and may have once been a date stone.
These buildings are similar in style to 10 and 11 High Street, which are also listed.
