Description
Silva House, located at No. 3 Silver Street in Midsomer Norton, is a building dating from around 1790, though it may be older. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, and it stands three storeys tall. The front features three windows with glazing bar sashes, including two light square mullion windows with edge-roll detailing and architraves. A central Venetian window is located on the first floor. To the left, there is a two-storey angled bay with sheet glass sashes, while the left-hand ground floor window is a large plate glass sash. The entrance is marked by a central glazed door. The building has a coved or moulded eaves cornice beneath a slate roof, and gable end chimneys made of ashlar. At the rear, there is a two-storey wing with two windows. The south return features a projecting Tuscan portico at the junction, with pilasters flanking a six-panel door.
