Pair of houses. c1800. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar rubble, double Roman tile roof. PLAN: small houses, stepped, set back slightly from the street, and attached, left, to Bloomfield Crescent (qv); each house has rear range, higher as result of slope in site to north-west. EXTERIOR: Two-storey front, each one window. Rose Cottage has plain sashes in plain reveals, at ground floor two light casement flush. First floor also has small single light to splayed opening. To left is an enclosed gabled porch, with pointed casement to street, and plank door on right return. Rear has narrow cross range, three storeys with basement, with plain sashes, and terraced area. No.264 has two light casement above plain sashes, in splayed reveals, and to left are two small lights, and panelled, part-glazed door with slab hood and cheeks with reeded edges. Rear has slated full width range at lower level. Front slopes have coped gables, each with ashlar stack. INTERIOR: Not inspected.
