Description

262 and 264 Bloomfield Road are a pair of houses built around 1800. They are constructed from limestone ashlar rubble and have a double Roman tile roof. The houses are small and slightly set back from the street, with a stepped appearance. Each house has a rear range that is higher due to the slope of the site to the northwest.

The exterior features a two-storey front with one window for each house. Rose Cottage (262) has plain sash windows in plain reveals, with two-light casement windows flush at the ground floor. The first floor includes a small single light window in a splayed opening. To the left of Rose Cottage is an enclosed gabled porch that has a pointed casement window facing the street and a plank door on the right side. The rear of Rose Cottage has a narrow cross range that is three storeys high with a basement, featuring plain sash windows and a terraced area.

No. 264 has a two-light casement window above plain sashes in splayed reveals, with two small lights to the left. It also has a panelled, part-glazed door with a slab hood and cheeks that have reeded edges. The rear of No. 264 has a slated full-width range at a lower level. The front slopes have coped gables, each topped with an ashlar stack. The interior has not been inspected.
