Description

No. 204 Bloomfield Road is a late 18th and early 19th century farmhouse, now a detached house. The building is constructed of coursed and squared stone, with some ashlar detailing, and has a pantile roof. It comprises three units arranged in a long, single-depth layout. The west-facing side is situated on the edge of a significant change in ground level. The left-hand range features a steep roof with coped gables, including a small window at first floor level. The gable to the left has a four-pane window above a large sixteen-pane sash, and a recessed, blocked doorway. The central unit has a lower ridgeline, a coped gable to the right, and is slightly set back, containing a two-light casement window above an early vertical-panel door with a slab hood supported by brackets, and another two-light casement. The right-hand unit is faced in ashlar, with a hipped roof to the right, a twelve-pane sash window above a 20th-century glazed door, and a two-light casement. A large square ashlar stack is located to the left. A single-storey range with a pantile roof extends to the right, connecting to the main building. The rear wall is also of stone construction. The interior has not been inspected. Group Value: The building contributes to the character of the surrounding area.
