Description
Nos. 1-9 Leopold Buildings is a terrace of nine houses built in the mid-19th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. The site slopes downwards towards the rear. The houses are constructed of limestone ashlar, with a double Roman tile roof that extends continuously over Nos. 1-4 and Nos. 5-9. There are moulded stacks to the party walls and gable ends. The houses have double-depth plans.
The front elevation is single-storey, while the rear elevations are two-storeys (Nos. 1-4) and three storeys (Nos. 5-9), with attics to each. Each house features a single window to the front. Nos. 1-4 have simple openings containing plate glass sash windows. No. 1 has a bolection moulded four-panel door with an over-light containing coloured glass to the left. Nos. 2 and 3 have 20th-century doors and over-lights. No. 4 has a bolection moulded four-panel door to the right. Nos. 5-9 have cornices on consoles above four-panel doors, each with a narrow over-light. The over-light to No. 8 contains coloured glass, while that to No. 9 is blocked. The interior of the buildings has not been inspected.
