Description
Nos. 9 and 11 Walcot Street are a symmetrical pair of houses with shops, built in the early 19th century. They are constructed from limestone ashlar and feature a shallow-pitched slate roof on the front range, while the rear range has a steeply pitched double Roman tile roof. The buildings have a double depth plan and rise to three storeys with a two-window front.
The exterior includes a returned coped parapet, a stopped cornice, and a lintel frieze, along with second floor and former first floor sill bands. Each upper floor has a single six-over-six pane sash window, some of which still retain crown glass. At the centre of the ground floor, there is a flush six-panel door in a plain opening that provides access to the upper floors. This door is flanked by early to mid-19th century half-glazed shop doors with blocked overlights, and four-pane shop windows with moulded sills, all highlighted by pilasters with recessed panels. A continuous fascia and simple cornice cover the first floor sill band and extend across the shops. The interiors have not been inspected.
