Description
No. 3 Walcot Street is a former house that has been converted into a shop, located at the rear of Rossiters. It dates from around 1840 and features a single-storey shop projection added in the mid-19th century, with some 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of limestone ashlar and has a double-pitched roof covered with double Roman tiles.
The main block is three storeys tall and set back, with a three-window front. It has a coped parapet and a stopped cornice. The upper floors contain six-over-six pane sash windows, with a sill band on the second floor and raised surrounds and cornices on the first floor. The mid-19th century single-storey shop, which may have replaced a former front garden, extends to the street line. The right side features a moulded architrave and a blocked overlight above a four-panel door, while the left side has a 20th-century door. The centre of the shop front includes a large two-pane plate glass window set in a moulded architrave, flanked by tall consoles and topped with a 20th-century fascia. The interior has not been inspected.
