Description
38 Broad Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It was originally built around 1709 and underwent conversion in 1883 by builder C. Wibley. The building is constructed from limestone ashlar and features a slate roof with moulded stacks on the party walls.
The structure is double depth, standing three storeys tall with attics and a four-window front. It has a returned coped parapet that rises over two forward-facing gables. The windows are horned six-over-six pane sash types, framed with cyma moulded architraves, except for the second floor right window. The attic windows have floating cornices, and there are stopped cornices on the second, first, and ground floors. The building also has banded quoins and a shopfront that includes a central set-in entrance.
The interior has not been inspected. Historically, a date stone from 1709 was noted to have been removed and is still missing.
